In this guide you'll use AI Build to generate questions from your content, then review and refine them.

AI Build can turn your content into a ready-made set of questions in seconds — flashcards, multiple choice, matching, and more. You choose the formats; AI Build writes the first version for you to review, edit, and keep. You'll find it as the AI Generate button in the Questions panel of any cell.

Add questions as Revision Questions inside an Editor cell for low-stakes practice, or build an Assessment cell when you need a formal, scored test.

✨ How to generate questions with AI Build

  1. Open the cell you want to add questions to, then open the Questions panel.
  2. On the Add New tab, select AI Generate to open the Generate Questions window.
  3. Pick the question types you want AI Build to create.
  4. Select Generate. AI Build drafts questions from your content for you to review.
  5. Review and edit each question — adjust the wording, answers, and accepted variations — then keep the ones you want.

📚 The question types

Each format tests something different. Use this to pick the right one — and to see what a strong example looks like.

Flashcard 🃏

A two-sided card for quick review: a term or concept on the front, its explanation on the back.

Good: Front — Photosynthesis; Back — The process plants use to turn sunlight, water and carbon dioxide into food.

Multiple Choice ✅

A question with one or more correct answers among plausible distractors. Keep the options similar in length and avoid overlap.

Good: What is the capital of France? — London, Paris, Rome, Madrid.

Short Answer ✍️

A one- or two-word typed response. Add accepted variations (synonyms or abbreviations) so small differences still mark correct.
