How to Develop Your Own E-Learning Course
Welcome to your guide on developing e-learning courses. If you're new to creating online training and transitioning from in-person or live sessions, this guide will walk you through a straightforward process based on the ADDIE model—Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation.
Here’s how you can create an effective blended learning course from start to finish.

Analysis Phase
1️⃣ Analyse Your Goals and Situation
Why It's Important:
Understanding the context and purpose of your course is crucial before diving into creation. This analysis helps you identify what you need to achieve and sets a clear direction for the development process.
If you don’t know where you’re going and what you’re aiming for, it’s going to take a lot longer than it should to get there.
Steps to Take:
- Identify Your Audience: Understand who will be taking the course. Consider their needs, background, and preferences.
- Determine Goals and Objectives: Define what you want to achieve with your new course. Clearly outline the learning outcomes you aim for. Consider what you want your learners to know, understand, or be able to do by the end of the course.
- Set Learning Objectives: Clearly outline what learners should know or be able to do by the end of the course.
- Determine Course Length and Format: Decide if your course will be synchronous (live sessions), asynchronous (self-paced), or a blend of both. Each have their own requirements and can be structured in different ways.
- Choose Assessment Methods: Decide how you will measure learners’ progress, such as through quizzes, assignments, or projects.
- Define Interaction: Plan how learners will interact with the course content and each other (if applicable). Will it be purely self-paced, or will there be group activities, discussion forums, or peer reviews?
- Identify Media Needs: List the types of media (e.g., videos, infographics) required and how they will enhance learning.
2️⃣ Assess Your Existing Resources
Why It's Important:
